Healthy headstart for Relay for Life

Young Services Club have just donated $2500 to the 2012 Young Relay For Life committee in the lead up to this year’s event.

Young Relay For Life will be held on March 10 and 11.

It involves teams of 10-15 people doing laps over a 24 hour period Cranfield Oval in honour of people touched by cancer.

The committee would like to extend an invitation to cancer patients, survivors, their carers and family members to be part of this community event.

“Without the support of local community groups and businesses, this relay would not be the success it is every year,” co-chair of the Young Relay For Life organising committee, Tricia Hill said.

“The committee would like to thank the Services and Citizens Club for their generous sponsorship,” she said.

Funds raised from Relay For Life help to operate the Cancer Council Helpline (13 11 20) where more than 16,000 people across NSW last year received free, confidential information and support from cancer health professionals.

In addition, more than $16 million worth of research for all people and all cancers was able to be undertaken.

The residents of Young and surrounding districts have access to the Young Cancer Council Community Centre that is located in the Millard Centre, Boorowa Street, Young.

The centre is a contact point for the Cancer Council’s information and resources.

To register a team for the Relay For Life visit www.relayforlife.org.au or call in to the Cancer Council office in the Millard Centre.

There will two be information nights held at the Services a Club on February 13 and 27, at 7pm, for anyone who would like to find out more about Relay For Life.
